As we gather with family this Thanksgiving, I am proud to share this post that started one year ago with a photo which was emailed to me… This photo was of a build site and some trees kept from the clearing of the land. Our client, Josh, did not want these logs to be wasted. Rather, he wanted them to be reclaimed into something extra special, that this family could enjoy for a lifetime. So, he contacted us and we agreed to make his vision a reality. Josh was very involved in the project, and together we came up with a game plan. With our guidance, he hired someone with a portable sawmill to cut the logs into boards on-site, and then properly stack them in a friend’s barn. They air-dried there until late summer. We picked up the load and proceeded to finish off the drying process in our wood kiln in Sparta. This was a lengthy process, but we knew it would pay off as we started to build the furniture from these sentimental pieces of wood! The CFT team did an amazing job of choosing the best boards for each project, carefully milling them to get the most use out of the wood we were given. It was not easy, and took several weeks, but we knew our efforts to create something beautiful would pay off! And they sure did! I am so happy with how this 12′ dining table, complete with matching benches & chairs turned out. We also built a custom-made homeschool desk for their kids to work at, which we think is great!! We delivered to Josh’s new house last week and I know his family will be enjoying the dining set as they gather around for the holidays this year, and many years to come. We were so blessed to be chosen for this special job, and are thankful for all our amazing clients who allow us to use our creativity and imagination on a daily basis! As you gather around this year, we hope you can enjoy time with family and friends. Be thankful for what you have been given, and find peace in the simple joys of life. The days are long, but the years are short, friends…
